freee, the Tokyo cloud accounting company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market, agreed on March 18, 2026, to buy all the shares of Logikura, a Tokyo startup that sells cloud inventory management software to retailers and wholesalers. freee's board approved the purchase that day and the two sides signed a share transfer agreement the same day.
The transaction was scheduled to close on April 1, 2026, making Logikura a wholly owned subsidiary. freee did not disclose the price, and its announcement included no comment from executives of either company.
freee said it would connect Logikura with its own products so that customers could run everything from stock counts to accounting in one system, and that it would sell Logikura to its existing customers.
What Logikura built
Logikura was founded on August 4, 2016, by Yuki Nagahama under the name New Revo. It started with a same-day delivery app for food and household goods before switching to inventory software, which it first sold as Zaicos, according to The Bridge.
Its product, also called Logikura, brings receiving, stock management, automatic order import and shipping into one cloud system aimed at small online and physical retailers and wholesalers. It works with ecommerce platforms such as Shopify, BASE and STORES, and lets staff use smartphones as barcode scanners instead of dedicated handheld devices. In 2021 the company also launched XTORM, an ecommerce fulfilment service run with Sagawa Global Logistics from a warehouse in Tokyo.
The company also built a network of more than 100 warehouse operators through a third-party logistics partner programme launched in autumn 2020. Nagahama said at the time that XTORM could handle up to 5,000 items a day and 150,000 a month for small parcels.
At the time of the deal the company was led by representative director Hiroto Sakakima and was based in Chiyoda, Tokyo. Logistics Today reported that Logikura had recently grown sales and become profitable. The number of employees was not disclosed.
The founders and the funding
Logikura raised a small seed round in June 2017, followed by a ¥50 million (about $330,000) pre-Series A round in December 2017 and ¥120 million (about $800,000) in 2020. In May 2021 it announced ¥360 million (about $2.4 million) from STRIVE and Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Capital, a total that also included loans from Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Capital and Japan Finance Corporation, The Bridge reported.
The company had listed capital of ¥100 million (about $670,000) in a later press release. Total equity raised was not disclosed.
Why freee is buying
freee was founded in July 2012 and is run by CEO Daisuke Sasaki. It described the purchase as its full-scale entry into inventory management for small businesses.
freee runs an integrated management platform for small and mid-sized businesses built around cloud accounting. It said meeting the needs of specific industries and business functions in its core areas, and widening its customer base, were key to its medium-term growth, and that buying Logikura would speed up that work.
Many small companies keep inventory records separately from their accounting, often by hand. Logistics Today reported that combining stock and accounting data was meant to help retailers and distributors track stock turnover, shortages and excess inventory, and plan replenishment, while cutting the manual entry that leads to errors in the books.
What happened next
freee relaunched the Logikura product as freee Inventory Management on April 15, 2026, two weeks after the deal closed, and said it would add journal-entry links to its accounting software in stages. In June 2026 Logikura connected its system to freee Accounting through an API, so that month-end inventory data automatically creates matching journal entries without CSV exports and imports.
The relaunched product kept Logikura's features, including barcode scanning and AI checks to reduce shipping errors, and automatic stock updates when goods sell through ecommerce services such as Shopify, Logistics Today reported.
In August 2026 the companies added a link to freee's invoicing product, which totals shipments by wholesale customer and issues invoices based on each customer's billing dates.
