Helium Ventures acquires InsurGrid, a policy-data platform used by 2,500 insurance agents

The AI-native holding company, set up by the founders of fintech Stilt, bought a pre-seed-funded insurtech that says it grew 50% a year through the end of 2025.

Helium Ventures, a holding company that buys and runs software businesses, acquired InsurGrid, a platform that property and casualty (P&C) insurance agents use to collect and check their clients' existing policy details. The deal was announced on 21 January 2026. Terms were not disclosed.

InsurGrid said more than 2,500 agents use its platform. Helium said it will continue operating InsurGrid and plans to invest heavily in product development, hiring and customer support.

The announcement did not give a closing date. Both InsurGrid and Helium said the company had already added several products under Helium's ownership, which suggests the purchase was completed some time before it was made public.

What InsurGrid built

Founded in 2019, InsurGrid targets a slow step in selling home and car insurance: getting accurate details of the policy a customer already holds. Instead of chasing clients by email and phone for their declaration pages, an agent sends a link. The client logs in, and InsurGrid pulls the coverage information directly from their current insurer. The platform works with any carrier and connects to more than 350 insurers.

The company said agents have used it to collect more than 80,000 declaration pages, and that more than $250 million in premium is closed through the platform each year. It said it grew 50% year on year through the fourth quarter of 2025.

When TechCrunch covered the company in March 2021, InsurGrid connected to 85 carriers and worked with more than 150 agencies. Founder Chase Beach comes from a family with a long history in insurance, according to that report. In 2021 the product also collected other client information such as dates of birth and driver's licence details, and one customer, Eden Insurance, reported that clients who submitted their details through InsurGrid converted at an 82% higher rate. Beach said at the time that he wanted InsurGrid to be the "underdog for the underdogs", serving independent agents.

“InsurGrid represents exactly the type of innovative B2B software we look for—a product that solves a real problem, has demonstrated product-market fit, and serves a large, underserved market. We’re investing heavily in product development and team expansion to accelerate InsurGrid’s growth trajectory.”Rohit Mittal, CEO and Co-Founder, Helium Ventures

The funding

InsurGrid raised $3.4 million in total pre-seed funding from Engineering Capital, Hustle Fund, Cedana Capital and strategic angel investors, according to the acquisition announcement. The first part of that, a $1.3 million pre-seed round reported by TechCrunch in March 2021, came from Engineering Capital, Hustle Fund, Vess Capital, Sahil Lavingia and Trevor Kienzle.

The company never announced a seed or Series A round. Beach, who was InsurGrid's CEO, is now described as its founder and former CEO.

Who is Helium Ventures

Helium Ventures describes itself as an AI-native holding company. It was founded by CEO Rohit Mittal and CTO Priyank Singh, who previously co-founded Stilt, a Y Combinator-backed fintech company that was acquired by JG Wentworth.

Mittal said InsurGrid fit Helium's buying criteria: business software with proven product-market fit that serves a large market poorly served by existing tools. Helium did not say how many companies it owns or how it funds its purchases.

What changes for agents

Since the acquisition, InsurGrid said it has added tools for agencies, insurance verification workflows for landlords, an AI-powered workspace for reviewing policies and more APIs for automating later steps. Recent launches include tools for cancelling policies, AI-based policy analysis, extraction of commercial insurance data and deeper links with agency management and rating software.

Beach said Helium's team had already delivered features customers had asked for for years, and that he wanted InsurGrid to become the main P&C data platform for agencies of all sizes. In the announcement, a Liberty Mutual agent, Jason Conner, said he bound 10 policies in two and a half weeks of using the platform, and Josh Bagby of Providence Insurance said a 61-year-old client finished the process in three minutes.

InsurGrid also said it protects customer data with 256-bit AES encryption. Helium said it would add customer support resources as it expands InsurGrid's products, but did not say whether any InsurGrid staff had left or how many people work at the company.
