TIMOCOM, the operator of a European road freight marketplace, took full ownership of Aparkado, a Cologne startup that makes LKW.APP, an app for professional truck drivers. The takeover took effect on 1 August 2026 and was reported by the German trade title TRANSPORT on 3 August.
TIMOCOM had taken a strategic stake in Aparkado in January 2025, and the two companies had worked together on mobile tools for European road freight since then. The purchase price and other terms were not disclosed.
LKW.APP stays in place for its current users, who can keep using it as before, according to TRANSPORT and the startup news site starting-up.de. TIMOCOM gains Aparkado's mobile development team and a direct line to the driver community.
What Aparkado built
Aparkado started with truck parking. LKW.APP uses forecasting models and historical location data to predict how full parking areas will be, and covers more than 50,000 parking spaces, according to starting-up.de. The company later added booking for secure partner car parks.
The app grew into a community platform for drivers across Europe. Aparkado reports more than 85,000 active users in 44 countries. Starting-up.de cited a shortage of up to 30,000 truck parking spaces in Germany every night, the problem the app was first built to address.
About a year before the takeover, TIMOCOM's live shipment tracking was added to LKW.APP, TRANSPORT reported, one of the first products of the partnership.
Moussavi said in the announcement that the app had begun with parking and spent about five years supporting drivers across Europe in their daily work. Aparkado describes its expertise as mobile apps, tracking and digital transport services, and says it relies on regular contact with drivers to decide what to build next.
Why TIMOCOM is buying
TIMOCOM said the deal would strengthen development of its Road Freight Marketplace, in particular mobile features and digital services along the transport process. It plans to pool development resources with Aparkado, bring new features to market faster, add more digital services for professional drivers, expand mobile marketplace functions and link mobile apps more closely to the marketplace.
Managing partner Tim Thiermann told TRANSPORT that the full takeover would keep the combined expertise permanently under one roof. Sebastian Lehnen, a member of TIMOCOM's executive board, was also quoted in coverage of the deal.
Thiermann said TIMOCOM's goal was to keep developing the Road Freight Marketplace in line with what its users need. The company also said it would keep investing in new technology and in the digitalisation of logistics, and that combining the two development teams should shorten the time it takes to ship new mobile features.
TIMOCOM is based in Erkrath and runs a European logistics network of more than 58,000 vetted companies, according to starting-up.de.
The founders
Aparkado was started in 2020 by Roland Moussavi and Philipp Henn and operated as Aparkado UG. Moussavi said the app had supported professional drivers across Europe for five years.
The company received support from the European Space Agency and was named a supra-regional "Startup-Champ" in 2022, starting-up.de reported. It said investors and banks were cautious at first and that drivers had to be won over gradually. No funding amounts or outside investors other than TIMOCOM were reported, and no headcount was given.
Competing for the driver's cab
Truck parking services in Europe include Bosch Secure Truck Parking, KRAVAG Truck Parking and Travis Road Services, which mainly sell to businesses. Aparkado took the opposite route and built its audience among drivers directly.
Starting-up.de argued that charging drivers is hard and that Aparkado's value to a buyer lay in the attention and data of its user base. For TIMOCOM, whose marketplace connects companies that move freight, the app is a product that sits with the driver during the journey itself.
